St Katharine Docks confirmed as berthing partner for Thames Trafalgar Race 2015

St Katharine Docks has been confirmed as berthing partner for the Thames Trafalgar Race for the third year running. The collaboration between the iconic St Katharine Docks in the heart of London and joint race organisers the Little Ship Club and Erith Yacht Club provides competitors with an exclusive berthing deal at Central London’s only marina.

Berthing at St Katharine Docks is being offered to Thames Trafalgar Race 2015 competitors for two weeks (from 26th September – 10th October 2015) at just £100, allowing race entrants to spend time at the marina and take in the sights of London in advance of participating in the Thames Trafalgar Race (Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October 2015). Events in London during this period include the ‘Totally Thames’ celebration (from 1st – 30th September), delivered by the Thames Festival Trust along with its myriad partners along the Thames.

William Bowman, Marina Director at St Katharine Docks said: “Last year we welcomed race competitors from far and wide and we look forward to doing the same this year. We are very pleased to be able to support the Thames Trafalgar Race by once again offering competitors exclusive berthing rates. The Thames provides a spectacular backdrop for the race and our offer provides a great opportunity for competitors to explore the city from a central base, and to soak up the atmosphere of the capital.”

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, who was instrumental in setting up St Katharine Docks as a marina in the 1970s, founded the Thames Trafalgar Race in 2013. The race has proved so popular this year that the 40 available places for entrants have already been secured and a waiting list is in place.

The Thames Trafalgar Race 2015 will follow a course downriver from just below Tower Bridge to the Queen Elizabeth Bridge, with a Trafalgar Dinner on the evening of Saturday 3rd October at Erith Yacht Club. The return leg will finish at Greenwich Naval College on the Sunday 4th October. Once again, the Little Ship Club will be on hand dockside at St Katharine Docks throughout the weekend event to offer information to spectators.
