35th Pineapple Cup-Montego Bay Race Postponed to 2022

It is with great regret that the Montego Bay Yacht Club and Manuka Sports Event Management announce the unavoidable postponement of the 2021 Pineapple Cup-Montego Bay Race. The race was scheduled to take place January 23-30, 2021. The new race dates will be January 22-29, 2022.

Montego Bay Yacht Club Rear Commodore Nigel Knowles, As we all continue to watch the Covid-19 pandemic develop, the one thing that is clear is that there is still too much uncertainty to be able to move ahead with full confidence that we will be able to host international teams in both Miami and Jamaica in just a few short months. It is with a heavy heart that we will need to postpone the upcoming edition of the Pineapple Cup, but we know that it is the right decision and we are already looking ahead to January of 2022.”

The health and well-being of the teams, staff, volunteers and partners are the highest priority. With current continued spread of the pandemic, it will not be possible to hold the Pineapple Cup safely. There are also significant travel and logistical restrictions that are in place right now and are forecast to remain in the coming weeks and potentially months adding to the difficulty in moving forward with the race in 2021.
