Following on a slow start to the 2019 booking season in November and December 2018, Kate Boats is pleased to report a 16 per cent increase in bookings this January.

Cheryl Howes, owner of Kate Boats, says: “We are delighted to announce a 16 per cent increase on bookings this January, compared to January 2018. Despite all the uncertainty that surrounds British businesses, it’s extremely positive to see that boating holidays are still being booked.

“This increase comes from both domestic and overseas bookings, so perhaps with a weaker pound, staycations are on the up and more people from overseas are looking to holiday in the UK.”

Kate Boats has been providing self drive narrowboat holidays on its fleet of 29 boats, based on the Grand Union Canal in Warwickshire at Stockton and Warwick, for nearly 40 years.

Last year the company took 800 holiday bookings for trips ranging from short breaks (three or four nights) to month-long bookings.

Cheryl adds: “This year its 90 years since the Grand Union Canal came into being and we look forward to celebrating with hundreds more holidays setting off along this historic canal this season. With a good start to bookings in January, hopefully we can match the success of 2017, which was a bumper year for canal boat holidays in the UK.”
