The RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show was officially opened by broadcaster and 2016 show compere, Monty Halls, with the help of young show visitors.

Also on hand to declare this year’s show open were British Sailing Team sailors Giles Scott, Hannah Mills, Saskia Clark, Helena Lucas, Ben Saxton, John Pink, Stuart Bithell and Nicola Groves.

Taking place at Alexandra Palace over the weekend of 05-06 March, the Show is filled with hundreds of commercial exhibitors, class associations, sailing clubs and training centres.

There is also a packed schedule of talks, coaching seminars and workshops, including a Rio 2016 update from members of the British Sailing Team, and an opportunity to hear the latest from the Land Rover BAR team ahead of their 2017 America’s Cup challenge.

Three-time Finn World Champion, Giles Scott commented: “I grew up coming to this show, so it’s fantastic to come back and see so many people interested in the sport.

“There is so much happening across the weekend and it really is the place to be for every dinghy sailor.”

Cutting the ribbon to officially open the show, Monty said: “It is fantastic to open this show. Whether you’re a newcomer coming with your family or you’ve sailed for years, the show is really hands-on so everyone can get involved.

“I’m really looking forward to welcoming everyone to the show over the weekend.”

Tickets can still be purchased on the door for £16, with the show running from 10:00-18:00 on Saturday 05 March and 10:00 – 17:00 on Sunday 06 March. For more information, visit www.dinghyshow.org.uk
