The Warm Freeze 1/2 zip top builds on Helly Hansen’s renowned Lifa® series of clothing that has a proven track record going back some 46 years.

The use of merino wool adds to the tops comfort and versatility as well a providing excellent temperature control.

It is slightly thicker than their original Lifa® top but can be comfortably worn next to the skin, under a t-shirt or fleece without bunching.

It’s extra long half zip helps regulate temperature and acts as a great ‘dump valve’ for a quick cool down.  The collar is snug without being uncomfortable and adds neck protection from chilly winds.

A very useful, but little talked about feature of merino wool is that it doesn’t smell after a day or two of use which is especially useful onboard a boat where clothes washing and drying facilities are limited.

Here’s what Helly Hansen themselves have this to say about it:

“The best wool baselayer on the market. Combining the unique Lifa® fiber technology next to skin to keep you dry, with a premium merino wool exterior with superior insulating and wicking properties.”
