Helly Hansen Salt Power Jacket

REVIEW – Helly Hansen Salt Power Jacket

The Helly Hansen Salt Power jacket is a no nonsense breathable waterproof jacket aimed at the powerboat market but equally at home on dry land.

It’s a great looking jacket and is cut well to allow freedom of movement without becoming bulky.

The design is based upon Helly Hansen’s marine stripe design for the Whitbread team ‘Berge Viking’ 35 years ago.

We reviewed the orange version which certainly stands out and turns heads, but it’s also available in red and navy.

The jacket is of a good length to avoid a cold back when bending over.  It’s mesh lined to avoid the clammy feeling that many waterproofs suffer from.  It also has a good, tall, fleece lined collar that will keep out the Autumn winds when out on the water.

It has solar reflective patches on the arms, a useful addition on any boating jacket.

The sleeves are well fitted and have an overlong cuff to protect the back of the hands.  This, along with the Velcro adjustment help keep any spray or splashes out.

All in all, a great jacket for motorboats of all sizes as well as for shore based use.
