The MotoSurf GP World Championship 2015 kicked off in Cancun Mexico from the 24th to the 26th of April. According to Philipp Wolf, President of the International Motorized Surfing Federation (FIDSM), the event was a huge success and managed to generate more buzz than ever before.
“We managed to attract more international media attention with channels like Fox Sports covering the event. Visitor numbers were also up compared to last season and that is very exciting for both MotoSurf GP and the FIDSM. Thanks to our sponsors and the local host, our racers and spectators who were able to enjoy top class hospitality as well as facilities and services. All in all we can look back with satisfaction at a successful kick-off.”
In addition to the MotoSurf GP big name veterans participating like Everaldo ‘Pato’ Teixeira (Brazil) and Kai Lenny (U.S.A.), we are seeing the rise of new talents including Lukas Zahorsky (Czech Republic), Yanai Or (Israel) or Alonzo Sherman (USA). This could lead to an upset in the final leader board at the end of 2015 making the season even more exciting and unpredictable.
We will have to wait until the next GP race in Bratislava, Slovakia on the 18th and 19th July to see how this trend develops. However, the Cancun GP was won by Jakub Kornfeil with 25 points followed closely by Michal Lostak in second place with 20 points and Daniel Záděra coming in third with 16 points.
The leader board with all the latest results can be found at the MSGP site.
The MotoSurf GP would like to express their gratitude to all of our sponsors; Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Resort, Jetsurf, GoPro, MSR Engines, Arminas Travel and Grand Velas Riviera Maya.
Lastly, we would like to mention the Fundación Palace, a local charity, who we supported by donating 50% of the profits.
