The RS Aerocup at Malcesine is now confirmed and the 2016 event is heading for the Italian lakes paradise of Malcesine on Lake Garda. This follows the success of the inaugural RS Aerocup in last year in Barcelona with 40 boats from 9 countries competing.
Malcesine lies on the eastern shore of Lake Garda towards the narrow and mountainous northern end, often compared to a fiord. The contemporary Fraglia Vela Malcesine clubhouse and marina is situated on the doorstep of paradise, with racing in the infamous thermal breezes and fresh waters of Garda, shrouded by the dramatic backdrop of mountains and cliffs. The setting, comfort and ease of launching all serve to provide a perfectly memorable stay – as will the splendid Italian cuisine and sunshine!
The RS Aerocup : Malcesine will kick off with a chilled out coaching and warm up day on the Thursday. Three days racing from Friday to Sunday will decide the 2016 RS Aerocup Champions from a far-reaching International fleet.
RS have committed to making a dozen Charter boats available for distant International visitors. With this being a fantastic opportunity to tick this sought after venue off their bucket list several North American’s have already committed with flights now booked! If there are enough Charters available they can be spread further, put your name on the request list by emailing; [email protected]
For UK owners, in addition to private travellers, RS Aeros may be loaded onto multi boat trailers either at RS HQ on Friday 16th September or after racing at the RS Aero UK Eastern Champs at Brightlingsea on 18th September.
There is plenty of interest at Malcesine for visiting families and partners.
The towns of Malcesine, Torbole & Riva del Garda centers are full of history and splendor and each worth a visit. Regular ferries & cruises from Malcesine’s Quay offer lake trips & cruises making for a fantastic way to travel whilst absorbing the scenery! The Monte Baldo cableway climbs from Malcesine to the summit of 1760m, for breath taking views over the lake and mountains, perhaps providing a welcome respite from shore side temperatures!
