Kent Team ready to Power into 2015 British Championship

The Kent based Powerboat Racing Team of Jelf Racing will this weekend (2nd/3rd May) Power their way into the first round of the 2015 Powerboat GP British Racing Championships.

The team that consists of five individual drivers will battle it out at the opening round of the championship at the Lancashire GP hosted by Lancashire Powerboat Racing Club at Carr Mill Dam, St Helens.

The Jelf Racing Team consists of Brothers Colin Jelf (45, Maidstone) and Owen Jelf (49, Poole) who will compete against each other in the six round British competition and at the stand alone event for the British Sprint Championship Title.

Both former World Champions they will be looking to make a strong impact on the fleet of fellow competitors in the mighty F2 Catamarans capable of racing speeds of up to 120km/h.

Moving into his second season in the GT30 Class is Ben Jelf (14, Maidstone). The 2014 European and British GT30 champion knows that competition will be strong in the fleet. Ben will be looking to get the best lines from the start and get a good start in the competition as he aims to go for the Triple Crown of British, European and World GT30 Champion.

The team’s two junior racers will also be competing against each other as they battle it out in the GT15 Class. Ben’s Cousin George Elmore (10, Chatham) heads into his second full season racing after starting racing from the age of 9. Whilst the newest member to the team Jonathan Brewer (13, Lincoln) will be competing in his 4th season of racing but his first as part of the Jelf Racing Team. The youngster’s will be looking to capitalize on the experience from the other team members and the months of winter training as they both go in search of their first British Championship title.
