aql Announced as Communications Sponsor for Cowes Week

Cowes Week Ltd, organisers of the world’s best-known sailing regatta and highlight of the British Sporting Summer, are delighted to announce another addition to their family of sponsors, as telecoms operator aql joins Cowes Week as the Official Communications Sponsor.

aql is a specialist communications provider powering most of the mobile messaging and IP telephony in the UK.  In addition, providing fibre connectivity, secure datacentre services and also highly secure mobile connectivity services for the growing demand of the Internet of things (IoT) marketplace.  aql strives to serve the accelerated digital needs of global businesses, helping them keep pace with the latest technological changes by leveraging the power of high bandwidth, secure storage, mobile connectivity and innovation.  A recent acquisition includes a maritime mobile operator.

aql will be working with CWL to identify mutually beneficial technology solutions that they could provide to support the Event including, but not limited to, text messaging, time synchronisation and wireless communications.

Commenting on the announcement, CWL’s Commercial & Marketing Director, Kate Johnson, said: “We’re delighted to welcome aql to Cowes Week. Whilst maintaining the great traditions of Cowes Week, one of the oldest and best-known sailing regattas in the world, we are focussing on being at the cutting edge of sailing competition worldwide, ensuring that we offer our competitors and spectators the very best experience. Technological innovation is key to this”.

Dr Adam Beaumont, Founder & CEO of aql added: “As a keen sailor, we’re excited to get the opportunity to support Cowes week.  I’m excited as to how this partnership can develop and how we can work with other partners in the areas of communications and safety.  As an organisation with key focus on low impact technology, there’s no event quite like Cowes to provide so much enjoyment with so little environmental impact.”

Cowes Week 2017 takes place between 29th July and 5th August and entries are being taken online.
