Market leader in the fast growing electric marine propulsion industry, Torqeedo, will showcase its extensive electric motor collection at TheYachtMarket.com Southampton Boat Show, on stand B080 from 14 – 23 September 2018.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Southampton Boat Show welcomes over 100,000 visitors each year and has chosen the focus for its golden year to be the environmental challenges facing the marine world.
As pioneers and market leaders of water-based electromobility, Torqeedo’s overarching goal is to think about the future today and every day. Increasing environmental concern and a move towards sustainable life-styles are shaping the marine industry, and with superior technology and energy enhancing efficiency, Torqeedo’s motors are at the forefront of this rapidly developing market. In contrast to combustion engines, Torqeedo motors do not pollute the environment. There is no risk of pollution from leaking oil, diesel or petrol, they produce no exhaust gases or carbon emissions during use and they are significantly quieter than combustion engines.
Torqeedo’s UK Sales Manager, John Arnold, comments, “Southampton Boat Show is always a great opportunity to speak to our customers about what we can do to help them make environmentally friendly choices, whatever their boating requirements. It is important that we look to the future and adapt our habits to help tackle the environmental challenges facing the marine world. Electric boating is a part of the larger sustainability revolution that is affecting almost every aspect of our lives and for many boaters it comes down to the fact that our electric propulsion motors just provide a better user experience overall. We look forward to welcoming both new and existing customers to the stand and discussing how Torqeedo can meet their needs.”
Outstanding efficiency characterises Torqeedo’s motors and is part of the brand’s environmental ethos. The best-selling Travel 1003 on display at the show this year can travel more than 10 nautical miles with a battery consumption equivalent to 40 grams of petrol. It is the environmentally friendly, quieter, lighter and more convenient alternative to a 3HP petrol outboard and provides the perfect power for inflatables, small boats, tenders, dinghies and sailboats up to 1.5 tons. The on-board computer provides a GPS-based calculation of remaining range and the integrated lithium battery is solar rechargeable.
Many of the current Torqeedo models will be on display at the stand this year, including the innovative Cruise 10.0R electric outboard. Torqeedo’s revolutionary 20HP equivalent motor can offer top speeds of 34 km/h vessel dependant. The flagship of Torqeedo’s Cruise line of motors produces no emissions or pollution to the environment, and can deliver a range of up to 75 km (46 miles) at lower speeds (battery and hull dependant). Completing the full range of Cruise motors at the show will be the Cruise 2.0 and 4.0 models, both of which are available in Tiller (T) or Remote-steering (R) variants.
Also available to view at the stand, Torqeedo’s Ultralight 403 C is a new, longer-running model of Torqeedo’s smallest electric outboard with integrated lithium battery. Designed for kayaks, canoes and very light boats, and with a total weight of less than 11kg, including the high-capacity battery, adds little to the overall weight of the kayak. With a top speed of 9.8 km/h and a maximum range of more than 100 km at slow speed, the motor delivers great efficiency, giving you the push you need when faced with a strong current, the wind or tired arms.
Inconspicuous yet powerful, the award-winning Cruise Fixed Pod (FP) range offers high-tech propulsion in the 5 to 20 HP performance class. Ideal for motorboats or sailboats up to 10 tons, the motors have an extra robust design which is wear-resistant and maintenance free. All models come with a GPS on-board computer and display, delivering real-time data of speed and input power, the remaining range and exact battery status when used in combination with Torqeedo’s lithium batteries.
Available for the first time at Southampton Boat Show, Torqeedo will display the latest of its innovative batteries – the Power 48-5000, which is perfect for commercial operators and green boaters. A high-performance lithium, 5,000 Wh battery, it weighs 36.5kg and boasts a battery management system with integrated protection against overcharging, short circuit, deep discharge, polarity reversal, overheating and submersion. The unit is waterproof to IP67.
