Torqeedo GmbH has announced it will be equipping Austrian boat builder, Frauscher Bootswerft GmbH, with its advanced Deep Blue propulsion system.

With immediate effect, Torqeedo will be supplying its Deep Blue systems for Frauscher’s 650 Alassio, 680 Lido, 740 Mirage, 750 St. Tropez and the recently launched 740 Mirage Air models.

Frauscher has worked closely with Torqeedo on drive and battery technology since 2005 and is hugely impressed by its advanced technology. The Deep Blue motor concept developed by Torqeedo demonstrates the high-safety standards as found in the automotive industry, making it the world’s only high-voltage marine drive system in serial production. Torqeedo only uses high-performance lithium batteries, modified for marine applications, which come with a nine-year guarantee on the capacity of the lithium batteries. All the components of the Deep Blue system are waterproofed to IP67 and the state-of-the art monitoring technology, with pilot lines and insulation monitors, safeguard the high-voltage system against the risk of short circuits.

Commenting on the partnership, Stefan Frauscher, Co CEO at Frauscher explains, “Our link with Torqeedo represents a logical step with regards to performance, efficiency and safety. Our boats are aimed at the premium sector in the boating market, which is why we make no compromises when choosing the very best components. There’s simply no alternative to Torqeedo’s Deep Blue when it comes to safe and fully integrated e-solutions on the water.”

Dr. Christoph Ballin, founder and CEO of Torqeedo GmbH, comments, “Our Deep Blue engine concept serves discerning customers, who demand powerful and advanced performance combined with safety, control and comfort on the water. We are proud to have been selected by such a prestigious company and look forward to working together to maximise market potential.”

Thanks to its optimum torque characteristics and input power of up to 65 kW, the Deep Blue drive delivers the same propulsive power as an 80 HP petrol outboard. Unlike a boat with a diesel or petrol motor, a boat with a Deep Blue drive has no emissions and is therefore approved for use within sensitive environments.
