Global Telesat Communications (GTC), one of the UK’s leading specialist providers of satellite systems, is proud to add the Thuraya Atlas IP to its range, ideal for users who want high speed and dependable internet access beyond cell tower range.
The Thuraya Atlas IP is a broadband terminal that is maritime specific, and can support data transfer at speeds of up to 444kbps, and asymmetric streaming between 16kbps and 384kbps. The service is available across 161 countries, and a large percentage of the world’s oceans.
A single cable to a stabilized antenna connects the terminal to Thuraya’s powerful L-band satellite network, which dynamically assigns capacity where it is needed to ensure a reliable service. The terminal itself has been developed for improved power efficiency on a smaller footprint, and with greater versatility than its main competitors.
The Atlas IP is intended as an ‘added value’ system on commercial vessels, usually working in parallel with another system, yet could act as a standalone system on leisure vessels. Typical applications would be corporate internet access for business purposes, remote IT support or video conferencing, vessel tracking, and crew welfare, the latter offering an affordable way to meet the increased demand for social networking.
Thuraya airtime is the most competitively priced in the maritime market, and GTC is able to offer a series of post-paid plans to enable users to choose the type of package to suit their needs, and their budget.
“The Thuraya Atlas IP has been developed for the commercial sector, where it has a reputation for reliability and low cost connection,” said James Phipps, GTC’s Head of Sales. “We can provide the hardware and expertise to assist with installation, and we also have the full range of post-paid Thuraya airtime plans. There are plans available for regular users, such as leisure sailors, and Unlimited plans for heavy commercial users who benefit from lower connection charges. It is a dependable system, and our friendly team of experts are always on hand to help you make the right choices with any aspect of the installation, from power supplies and cabling to selecting the right airtime package.”
The Thuraya Atlas IP terminal is priced at £4,375 ex VAT, with airtime packages starting from $42.50 per month. Contracts start from just 1 month minimum term.
