Helly Hansen announces partnership with Ker 40+ Invictus

Global technical sailing brand, Helly Hansen, announces its exciting sponsorship as the Official Clothing Partner of Sir Keith Mills’ Ker 40+, Invictus, for 2017.

Designed by renowned British designer, Jason Ker, Invictus is owned by British entrepreneur Sir Keith Mills. Competing in the Fast 40+ race circuit, Invictus is helmed by Sir Keith and his son, Alex, with leading Volvo Ocean Race sailor, Rob Greenhalgh, as tactician and crew boss.

As part of the sponsorship, Helly Hansen is kitting out the team with the latest sailing collection, including the HP Foil JacketHP Foil Smock Top and HP Foil Salopette. Helly Hansen will have its new “Alive since 1877” branding on the boat and boom, following the launch of its new brand platform – which encourages and enables professionals and enthusiasts to feel alive in their activities.

Alex Mills comments, “We are delighted to be partnering with Helly Hansen for the 2017 season. These boats are very physical to sail and can be extraordinarily wet; so it’s really important that our crew has the best performance kit to keep them dry, whilst retaining the freedom of movement required to get the boat around the course.”

Invictus finished second overall in the 2016 Fast 40+ Series. Notable results included, Round the Island Race Class Winner and 2nd Overall on Handicap, 2nd One Ton Cup, 2nd Vice Admiral’s Cup and and Royal Southern Fast 40 Regatta Winner.

Emma Russell, Marketing Manager for Helly Hansen in the UK, Ireland and Benelux, adds, “We are proud to sponsor Invictus and look forward to an exciting partnership this year. The Invictus team need the most technical sailing kit to race in and the latest Helly Hansen kit will enable them to perform at their best. We wish the crew the best of luck for the season and look forward to sharing in their alive moments.”

Invictus is named after the William Henley poem published in 1888, which was the inspiration for the Invictus Games, which Sir Keith Mills setup with HRH Prince Harry in 2014. The line from the final stanza of the poem ‘I AM the master of my fate’ adorns the boom.
