Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation, today announced the Panoptix PS21, a new transducer optimised for a trolling motor that features its popular Panoptix all-seeing sonar technology.
With the PS21, fishermen can now add the most attractive feature of Panoptix, LiveVü Forward, to a compatible Garmin GPSMAP® or echoMAP® CHIRP chartplotter to see real-time moving sonar images ahead of and around their boat. The PS21 is the newest member of the Panoptix transducer family. Other Panoptix transducers are available in transom and thru-hull mount options for inland and offshore applications.
“Panoptix LiveVü Forward delivers a whole new perspective to fishing, and thanks to the compact weight and size of the PS21 transducer, it’s perfect for use on a trolling motor,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. “We’re excited to make this revolutionary sonar technology available for all types of anglers, from entry level to professional.”
With Panoptix on board, fisherman can now see real-time sonar imagery at video-like speed. Unlike traditional or scanning sonar that only provides historical data of what has been passed over, LiveVü Forward shows an image of fish swimming and moving toward or away from the boat – even while stationary – in real time and up to 100 feet away. Anglers can see their lure as they cast and retrieve it, pinpoint its relationship to structure and watch the fish react to their bait.
The Garmin Panoptix PS21 trolling motor forward transducer will be available in January with a suggested retail price of £879.99. It is compatible with Garmin’s new line of echoMAP™ CHIRP 7- and 9-inch models, as well as the GPSMAP® 7400/7600 series, GPSMAP 8000/8500 series and GPSMAP 7×1, 8×0, and 10×0 series chartplotters.
