Dometic Marine presents ship-wide ventilation product range at Southampton Boat Show

Southampton Boat Show, 11th to 20th September, Stand G081

HVAC specialist Dometic presents its Ship-Wide Ventilation product range, designed to improve safety, extend engine life, and optimise performance and efficiency for a range of boats.

The marine engine room ventilation systems and components, including mist eliminators, dampers, fans and actuators, help to reduce the risk of over-heating of machinery which can result in fires or cause components to fail.

Focusing on delivering custom solutions for boat builders and owners, Dometic has a dedicated team of ship-wide ventilation experts specialising in providing design, engineering support and consultation services.

Paul Hickinbotham, Director EMEA – Sales and Administrations & Commercial Division, Dometic, said: “As Dometic continues to expand its presence in the ship-wide ventilation OEM and retrofit businesses, our top engineers are leading the design, planning and implementation for our robust line of products. They will address the needs of boat builders, integrators, repair yards and owners to ensure that critical marine equipment is incorporated seamlessly into vessel designs.

“Our customised ship-wide ventilation equipment, along with the huge range of Dometic’s rugged, innovative marine products, provides our customers with a single point of contact for purchasing, implementation and worldwide service. OEMs can trust Dometic’s dedicated engineers, sales force and service team to focus on personalised service and smooth implementation.”

Suitable for yachts, superyachts, ferries, military vessels and a range of other commercial boats, the Dometic Ship-Wide Ventilation product line includes:

• Smoke and A60 Fire Damper. Dampers close off the engine space in the event of a fire. The lack of fresh air in conjunction with the release of fire retardant can snuff out a fire and save a boat from possibly burning to the waterline. Dampers come in both marine-grade aluminium and stainless steel.

• Axial Fan, DC Fans and Blowers. Commercial-grade axial fans and centrifugal blowers provide cooling and/or combustion air for marine machinery spaces. Materials are chosen with corrosion resistance and weight in mind. Blades are constructed of high-strength PPG glass-reinforced polyamide, with standard powder coating of the fan housing. Fan motors are high efficiency, direct drive, and reversible. All hardware is either marine-grade aluminium or 316 stainless steel.

• Mist Eliminators. Mist-eliminating grilles stop corrosive salt mist and water from entering the engine room. Each mist eliminator is custom designed for maximum air flow and minimum restriction for a given machinery package, taking into consideration air flow and dimensional restrictions. There are four mist-eliminator drainage options: bottom draining, face draining, horizontal and sump draining.

• Pressure and Temperature Monitoring Fan Controls. Controls are available for three-phase fans and blowers, as well as 24 VDC fans. They can be manual variable speed, temperature controlled, pressure controlled, or pressure and temperature controlled. DC controls are temperature based. All controls come standard with fire system shutdowns. Three-phase systems can also have fire damper control. Interface with central monitoring systems is optional.
