This summer, MDL’s Hythe Marina Village is teaming up with The Green Blue’s ‘Love Where You Sail’ initiative, to support their work to keep the waters of the Solent as safe and clean as possible.
The Green Blue is a joint environmental programme created by the Royal Yachting Association and British Marine for anyone who enjoys getting out on the water or whose livelihood depends on it.
The ‘Love Where You Sail’ initiative specifically encourages boaters to use holding tanks and pump-out facilities whenever possible, as opposed to emptying the heads and discharging blackwater into the sea. Part of The Green Blue’s commitment to making boating sustainable in the UK, these facilities help keep the seas cleaner for everybody.
Hythe Marina Village is supporting this initiative by promoting the use of its own pump-out facilities to berth holders and visiting boats with new eye-catching signage, highlighting the importance of keeping the waters healthy and safe.
Adrian Gilson, Manager at Hythe Marina Village, said: “At MDL, we are fully behind initiatives like ‘Love Where You Sail’ which help us to protect our beautiful marine surroundings, conserve local wildlife and keep the seas safe and clean. To promote our facilities, we are offering a free pump-out service during Cowes Week (8th – 20th August) this year which we hope will get people thinking about disposing of waste responsibly.”
