The Marine & Property Group Ltd announces the acquisition of Burry Port Marina. Offering 450 berths, adjacent to Pembrey Country Park and within easy reach of the Gower Peninsula and Tenby, Burry Port marina is the latest addition to the company’s portfolio. The marina complements the company’s existing marina locations around the coastline of Wales and offers an opportunity for the marina to benefit from the company’s experience in marina development and management.
The Marine Group has existing marinas in Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Port Dinorwic. In addition to their marinas, the company offers an integrated approach to boat owners with an established service offering including, drystack berthing, hard standing storage, boatyards and undercover workshops, commercial property and water injection dredging services.
The acquisition of Burry Port Marina, follows on from the successful water injection dredging campaign carried out by the company at the marina to improve the access into and around the harbour. The Marine Group have been working closely with Carmarthenshire Council and presented a long-term investment programme to develop the marina into a first-class facility. The company’s plans include a rolling dredging programme ensuring facilities are accessible and optimal. In addition, the company has plans for a new marina building with high standard toilets and showers and a bar/coffee shop. The plans will see The Marine Group work with and support local businesses to help boost employment. As part of the agreement, the dock walls will be renovated by Carmarthenshire Council.
The addition of Burry Port Marina to the portfolio, provides a further location for the continued growth and development of the company’s boatyard services. The company will be working with and supporting local businesses to provide these services. These include support for all types of inboard and outboard engines and a range of specialist services including insurance repairs, Hot Vac osmosis treatment, Dek-King Dealer, 3M Gelcare Centre and Approved Awlgrip and International Application Centre.
Christopher Odling-Smee, Director said: “We are excited to be working closely with Carmarthenshire Council to help develop Burry Port Marina into a first-class facility and a sustainable destination, alongside their greater initiative to develop the landside area adjacent to the marina. The planned creation of a leisure quarter and residential development at Burry Port will greatly complement our plans for the marina.”
Drew McDonald, Director added: “We are delighted to welcome Burry Port Marina to the company. We look forward to meeting berth holders and introducing a number of initiatives including our Refer a Friend promotion and Visitor Exchange Programme between our existing marinas in Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Port Dinorwic.”
