Exciting new plans to extend Cropredy Marina have been submitted to Cherwell District Council by owner operator Tim Langer. The proposal will see the popular marina, already at capacity, increase its mooring capacity by one hundred berths – helping to accommodate those customers on its substantial waiting list.
The proposed new marina basin will be immediately adjacent to the existing marina, and located to the north of the site with access to the Oxford Canal through the northern basin. The land is currently used for arable farming and studies have confirmed that the proposed development (which will also include an appropriate number of additional parking spaces) will not have a detrimental impact on the environment, local wildlife, or the views across the site.
Tim Langer said: “When developing Cropredy Marina in 2013 we worked closely with, and listened to, the local community, Parish Council, local authority and other organisations. We will take the same approach with the proposed extension, and we actively encourage anyone who has concerns or who would like to find out more to contact us directly. As with the initial development, we are confident that the new marina will have a positive effect on the village in terms of jobs and spending at local businesses, thus helping Cropredy village continue to thrive.”
Tim continued: “If plans are approved for the new extension we hope to start work in Spring 2016 and be finished by Autumn 2016 (weather permitting). The work will be carried out by the same professional contractors and team which built the initial marina. The scheme does not involve any spoil being carried off-site, nor does it include the construction of any additional buildings. ”
Tim added: “In a very short space of time Cropredy Marina has become part of the Cropredy community, and I would like to thank all of those who have made us feel so welcome.”
Cropredy Marina is an off-line marina, with first class facilities and an excellent reputation for customer service, situated on the southern Oxford Canal, five miles north of Banbury. Its central location for cruising, quiet rural setting, and the fact that the attractive village of Cropredy and its facilities are just a short walk away, makes it a great choice for boaters.
