Mastervolt, the leading supplier of energy systems, is sponsoring the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution (KNRM). The company’s main aim is to ensure the KNRM teams a safer working environment. In addition to equipment, Mastervolt is providing a lifelong guarantee as well as training for installers within the framework of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy.
The KNRM has an excellent reputation and does great work,” says Ton de Winter, CEO of Mastervolt. “The rescue staff should be able to perform their tasks in a way that is as safe as possible, enabling them to save more lives without compromising their own safety. We want to help them achieve this.”
“At Mastervolt we find it important that the causes we sponsor are close to our hearts,” De Winter continues. “People should immediately understand why Mastervolt sponsors the KNRM and our goal is to provide support that revolves around our products and services,” At the time the KNRM sponsor agreement was announced, the company’s personnel spontaneously started a fundraising campaign. The €2,500 raised was presented to Edward Zwitser of the KNRM by Ton de Winter in the form of a symbolic cheque on 6 April.
Mastervolt is giving the KNRM a lifelong guarantee on all Mastervolt products it uses, and providing an annual budget for purchasing new products for both new builds and existing vessels. In addition to these products, knowledge will also be made available: Mastervolt will support the KNRM with advice and assistance in the design and optimisation of the electrical systems on board its vessels and vehicles. As products function at their best when installed correctly, training courses will be held for yards and installers working for the KNRM.
Mastervolt hopes the campaign will speak to both recreational and professional clients. “Our clients expect a socially responsible business, and we aim to be just that,” De Winter continues. “We work closely with various training institutes and schools, train interns, and focus on creating sustainable products. Mastervolt also supports a number of charities, including the Live Your Dream Foundation. Our origins are in the maritime world, however, which is why the KNRM suits us so well. Mastervolt products can withstand extreme conditions, as has been seen by their excellent performance in the Volvo Ocean Race. The KNRM faces similar challenges on a daily basis.”
Kasper Kools, workshop manager at the KNRM, is delighted with the sponsorship by Mastervolt: “We are humbled and honoured by this agreement. The KNRM have been working with Mastervolt for 25 years, and it is great to see our relationship extended in this way. We select equipment based on quality, which is pure added value when it comes to rescuing people in a safe way. It says a lot that the KNRM has been working with Mastervolt products for such a long time. And the training is more than welcome too. Knowledge is one of the pillars of every organisation – the most capital-intensive aspect there is. The training courses will raise our know-how to a higher level.”
To celebrate the sponsorship, Bouke van de Weerdt, service support manager at Mastervolt, symbolically presented a Mass Combi Ultra to Kasper Kools at the KNRM’s head office. The Mass Combi Ultra is a powerful battery charger, efficient inverter and versatile switching system in a single robust, lightweight and compact unit which is ideal for KNRM vessels.
