Following the success of the inaugural Powerboat Racing Industry Awards last year, recognising the contributions of industry partners to the sport, nominations are now open for 2016.
“Each year at the RYA Powerboat Racing Awards, the annual showcase for the sport he UK, we recognise those who participate in the sport as competitors. Until last year there was very little opportunity to recognise those companies and organisations who contribute to the sport’s success in other ways. Consequently we introduced the Industry Awards and are delighted to open the nominations for 2016”, commented RYA Powerboat Racing Manager, Jeni Jelf.
Recognising the wider marine industry, innovators in the field of safety and technology, the event host venues and the all-important team sponsors, nominations are being sort for the following categories:
- Leading contribution to powerboat racing from a marine industry supplier (safety / technology )
- Best sponsorship of a powerboat racing team
- Leading contribution from a host venue
Last year’s winners were Pertemps Network in the ‘Leading sponsorship of a powerboat racing team’ and Scarborough Borough Council in the ‘Leading contribution from a host venue’ category.
“We were delighted with the calibre of the entries we received last year and we look forward to receiving even more entries this year, demonstrating exactly how important the work and contribution these organisation and companies have on our sport and for our racers”, concluded Jeni.
RYA Licence Holders or affiliated clubs are encouraged to submit entries for the awards by the closing date of Thursday 01 December 2016 to the RYA Powerboat Racing Department – [email protected]

An independent judging panel representing expertise from across the racing spectrum will consider all entries received, with the winners announced at the RYA Awards Ceremony scheduled for 04 February 2017.
