Jelf Racing set to Jostle for 3 British Powerboat Titles

The Kent based Jelf Racing team this weekend (12/13 September) return to action this weekend at the final round of the Powerboat GP British Championships as they compete at the Bedford GP.

The team sponsored by Peters & May Racing and Your Print Partner have already secured two British Sprint Championship titles and a GT15 European Silver Medal to their successes in the 2015 season. This weekend they will bid to add three of the Powerboat GP British Championship titles to the roll of honour.

In the GT15 Junior class Lowestoft’s Thomas Mantripp has a 6 point lead on Jelf Racing’s Jonathan Brewer but with his confidence on high following his European silver medal over the bank holiday weekend Jonathan will be looking to knock his rival from the top spot to secure his first British Championship title.

Meanwhile Team mate George Elmore will be looking to secure another podium finish at the Bedford Grand Prix and also be aiming for at least 4th in the championship in what would be his most successful season to date.

Ben Jelf will once again compete for the GT30 Bedford GP title and will hope to secure the 2015 Powerboat GP GT30 title with a clean sweep of wins. The 15 year old has been racing just 5 years and will this weekend be looking to add his 11th British Title to his trophy cabinet, after securing his 10th at the British Sprint championships in August. Ben has an 18 point lead over rival Jamie Norris heading into the weekend but knows that his fellow competitors will not make the final GP win an easy task for him and will push him every step of the way.

In addition to the GT30 Class Ben will once again compete in the F4 Class having recently turned 15 and qualifying to compete nationally Ben has competed at the last two rounds of the season gaining experience and improving his skills before challenging for the F4 crown in the 2016 season.

The final competitor representing the Jelf Racing team this weekend is former World Champion Colin Jelf who will be looking to add the Powerboat GP F2 British Championship title to his F2 Sprint title secured in August.

The F2 campaign has been edge of the seat nail biting action all season with each event being through of thrills and spills and this final round looks set to be even more exciting. Steve Hoult leads the championship from Colin Jelf with a 7 point lead but with Jelf having home water advantage and Alan Marshall and Paul Balfour all vying for position anything could happen. Jelf will remain calm and collected and will aim to secure pole position and lead the way to the chequered flag.

Looking forward to the weekend ahead Team Manager and F2 Driver Colin Jelf had this to say on the task ahead for the team “It will be a busy weekend for all the team again, and we have a lot of work to do three of the championship titles are still in our sights and although the task ahead is a mammoth one we’ll do absolutely everything in our power to try to secure all three of them.”

“It’s been a fantastic season for Jelf Racing and the team work and dedication has really paid off we’ll be looking to end the season on a high with hopefully Podium finishes in each of the classes as a thank you to our sponsors, Peters and May Racing and YourPrintPartner.co.uk and the team and supporters. The team are raring to go we just need to wait for the weekend now!”

The on water action will get underway from 10.30 on both Saturday 12th and 13th September starting with qualifying and then with each class competing over three heats to find the 2015 Powerboat GP Bedford GP Winners.
