With just eight weeks to go until the Volvo Noble Marine RS200 National Championship at South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club, the RS Class Association has announced a special youth early entry rate of just £99 for youths aged 22 and under.
Youth teams need to enter by 30th June to take advantage of this rate. Adult early entry is just £139.
As the UK’s biggest adult double-handed dinghy class, with a Nationals entry of 100 boats in 2014, the RS200 offers superb competitive racing for youths at all levels, who are moving on from the junior and transition classes, or looking to gain big fleet experience for a week.
Last year youths made up one third of the fleet and were spread across the results table, with those 22 and under competing for the Paignton Pot, and those under 18 also eligible for the junior trophy, both of which are engraved with some famous names!
The championship starts with a coaching day from Paralympian Niki Birrell, followed by a get-to-know-the-fleet social on Saturday 1st August, providing a light hearted opportunity for competitors to meet each other before the racing gets underway on Sunday 2nd August.
The championship programme is 2 races a day from Sunday to Thursday, with first start at 13.00 to suit the tides and allow for leisurely mornings, enabling sailors to make the most of the ‘awesome social programme’ associated with the RS200 fleet. The full details of this year’s programme are still under wraps, but we can tell you that it will include the ever-popular beach games and curry night as well as a themed fancy dress party and final dinner.
