On Saturday 6 June, MDL Marinas will be hosting a charity bike ride to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation. Cycling enthusiasts and British Heart Foundation supporters will be tackling a mammoth 68 mile cycle ride from MDL’s Penton Hook Marina, near Chertsey-on-Thames to the Ocean Village Marina in Southampton.
The event is being organised by MDL berth holder, Gary Pearson, with the support of the MDL team. Riders will set off from Penton Hook Marina from 9am and are expected to reach Ocean Village Marina at around 4pm. The marina will be holding a barbeque in celebration, giving participants the chance to socialise together, and to refuel and relax after a day’s cycling.
A team from MDL Marinas will be taking on the challenge. The cyclists are Dean Smith, Mike Glanville, Shaw Smith, Jonathan Walcroft, Clive Marriott and Ben Boardman, who have been busy putting in some training miles ahead of the ride. A number of MDL’s berth holders will also be taking part in the event, with friends and family heading down to the marina to cheer them across the finish line.
Commenting on the event, Adrien Burnand, MDL Marinas Head of Marketing, said: “We are delighted to support Gary with this fundraising initiative for the British Heart Foundation. When Gary approached us about hosting the ride, we were keen to get involved and help raise funds for this worthy cause, which we know is very close to Gary’s heart. It looks to be a fun, social occasion, as well as a great challenge. Lots of our berth holders will be getting involved too, so it should be a fantastic day. We’re really looking forward to it.”
25 riders are currently registered to take part in the cycle. To sponsor the MDL team, please visit www.justgiving.com/dean-smith20.
