Family Fun Day – Sunday 3rd May 2015, 11am-4pm
Central London’s iconic marina, St Katharine Docks has been chosen to host one of the RNLI’s MayDay Campaign events in aid of celebrating the work of the charity’s lifesaving crews. On Sunday 3rd May 2015, an RNLI Family Fun Day taking place at the Docks will feature a variety of activities on offer for the whole family to get involved in, such as face painting, ‘hook a duck’, a welly workshop, Water Safety Education activities, games, fish and chips, live music and sea shanties, and a mini beach area.
In addition to the Family Fun Day at St Katharine Docks, families can take part in the RNLI’s London Bridges Treasure Trail. Follow a route from Tower Bridge, along the River Thames, passing many of London’s notable riverside sights before arriving at Waterloo Bridge and the RNLI’s busiest Lifeboat Station. See if you can answer all of the questions and learn more about the Thames on the way!
William Bowman, Marina Director comments: “We are delighted to be supporting the RNLI’s latest campaign. As we are situated within walking distance of Tower Gateway DLR and Tower Hill Underground Station, we’re perfectly positioned to welcome participants and visitors to the marina for the Family Fun Day. We would like to encourage as many people as possible to come and enjoy the day’s activities, whilst raising money for the important work that the RNLI do on the Thames.”
The Family Fun Day starts at 11am and entry is free.
The RNLI MayDay campaign is being celebrated nationwide, with numerous events being held from 1st – 4th May to raise money for the lifeboat crews and lifeguards. Follow the RNLI campaign on Twitter by following the hashtag #YellowWelly.
