Kent based powerboat team Jelf Racing head to Lancashire this weekend (29/30 April) for the opening round of the 2017 Powerboat GP RYA British Championship and will launch into the new season with new sponsors FibreTech UK Ltd.

Jelf Racing are proud to be announcing their new sponsor for the start of the season as they challenge for 5 British Championship titles in addition to their international campaign.
Sixteen year old Ben Jelf an engineering student of Mid-Kent College faces his biggest challenge in his racing career as he goes in search of a triple crown in the F4 Catamaran class. 2017 sees Ben search for his first British catamaran title in the F4 class in addition he will also launch a bid for the UIM F4 European and World Championship crowns throughout the forthcoming season.
The Jelf Racing team will also be represented in the junior GT15 class for 9 to 16 year olds by Chatham’s George Elmore. Elmore (12) is a promising contender for the 2017 GT15 Championship crown following his highest season finish to date in the 2016 season coming second in the British Sprint championship and 4th in the Powerboat GP Championship.
Lincoln’s Jonathan Brewer will once more join Jelf Racing representing the team in his first season in the GT30 class. The 15 year old team mate makes his move up to the GT30 class after finishing second in the GT15 championship in the last two years Jonathan will be hoping the extra horse power will be just the boost he needs to secure his first national championship win.
2017 sees Jelf Racing joined by Bedford’s Nigel Edwards and Lincoln’s Jason Brewer who will go head to head looking for Jelf Racing’s 4th championship crown as they battle it out against each other in the T850 Monohull Class.
Completing the team line up is former World F2 Champion and Jelf Racing team Manager Colin Jelf. Jelf who secured Bronze at the European Championship’s in 2016 will be looking to get his championship campaign off to winning ways this weekend knowing that securing pole position at the Lancashire Grand Prix could make all the difference in securing the British Championship.
