Saturday 14th – Sunday 15th May 2016
If you are in the market for a new boat or just a keen boating fan, there’s one event not to be missed next weekend, Hamble Point Boats on Show. Taking place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May, visitors can tour over 250 new and used boats at the South’s premier boating location, with free entrance and parking.
Visitors will have access to a huge range of sail, day boats, sports boats, cruisers and RIBs from some of Europe’s leading marine brands. The marina is also home to top yacht brokers, boat dealers, builders, refit specialists, riggers and engineers, with over 50 marine companies on-site. Whilst there, visitors can treat themselves to lunch and drinks at the Ketch Rigger Bar and Restaurant, and enjoy the beautiful sunshine forecasted for the weekend.
At the show, Sunbird International Motor Yachts will be showcasing its Monte Carlo MC5. This boat is multi-award winning, and is the only current model for sale in the UK. The team will be on hand to talk through the entire range which starts from 45ft through to the all-new 105ft MCY105. The SBS will be debuting the WRIB GT375 in the UK, the first of a new range of standard non-folding RIBs from the same company that makes FRIBs. They will also have the Island RIBs 7.5m, which is powered by a 200hp Suzuki engine, as well as the full range of FRIBs and a selection of DinghyGo inflatable sailing dinghies and Aquaglide inflatable kayaks.
MS&P Yacht Brokers will have a full line up of 50 sailing yachts ashore at the event, including the Greenline 33 and Greenline 40, eco friendly walk-around style motor cruisers. Universal Yachting, Dufour Yachts’ Southern dealer, will also be at the show with the new Dufour 350 GL sailing yacht. They will also have details of their RYA Approved Sailing School, offering RYA training and bespoke courses. Inspiration Marine will have a selection of Hanse Yachts on display, with the range going from 31ft to 68ft.
Nic Parton, Marina Manager at MDL’s Hamble Point Marina, commented: “We have a superb selection of models at this year’s event and are delighted to be playing host to a number of UK debuts, as well as giving visitors the chance to see new ranges for the very first time. Hamble Point Boats on Show offers a great opportunity for anyone interested in making a new purchase, or even becoming a boat owner for the first time, to come and have a look. The sun is set to be shining and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone and showcasing all that Hamble Point Marina and the on-site marine brands have to offer.”
On the Sunday of the event (15th May), the Hampshire Constabulary Marine Unit in conjunction with Ramora UK, one of the UK’s leading bomb disposal companies, will be offering “a distress flare amnesty” for private boat owners. The disposal of out-of-date flares is a growing problem for owners who face severe penalties if they fail to follow the correct procedures. Flares can be disposed of safely at the marina between 10am and 3pm.
